Recycling organic waste at its best
Recycling organic waste at its best
Composting is traditionally a slow process. We speed this process up by optimizing and enhancing a number of factors such as temperature, oxygen moisture, structure, etc. This enables us to create the ideal environment for microorganisms responsible for pasteurizing the compost. We use two different processes to achieve this:
PACOM-composting and tunnel composting
Orgawold in Drachten processes organic waste using the PACOM process (Process based Aerobic COMposting). This process uses 'negative aeration'. Air is vigorously drawn through the composting mass stimulating micro-biological activity. The Lelystad plant uses a combination of PACOM and tunnel composting (a process based on positive aeration): the organic waste is provided with air naturally also stimulating micro-biological activity.
